We're still alive, but nobody can tell for how long...

Half of it is the fact that I got up at 5 AM for the sunrise. I took the photo at about 6:45 AM, or 7:07 AM depending on which EXIF reader you use. That is when the light is the most magical.

The other half of it is to simply keep shooting and shooting, until you get the right shot. I took about a hundred shots of bees on that particular morning. This one just had perfect timing, focus and exposure, so it's the one I kept. There were countless others that were worthless.

A small part of the photo's effectiveness is the fact that I had the ability to process it perfectly, from the RAW file in Photoshop CS2. If I didn't have a powerful RAW converter like that, I would not have been able to accurately shoot digital in such rapidly changing morning light. In the other shot of the spider web at sunrise, which I took at about 6 AM, you can tell how different the light is.

Hope this helps,
-Matt-
