"Serenity At Sea" ~ Corona Del Mar State Beach, December 2005.

I have a certain affinity for going to the beach on overcast, "possible showers" type days. Sometimes I get to the beach and it is indeed pouring rain, and I sit in my car wondering why in the heck I bothered driving all the way to the beach for "nothing". But sometimes I get there and I am rewarded with such a beautiful sight that it is overwhelming. This time it was probably the most subtle I've ever seen, but the beauty was still overpowering, to be sure. I do not think this photograph does the scene justice. You really had to be there to fully enjoy it.

So once again, here I am urging all my fellow suburbians (and city folks, of course) to get out and discover their own special place that isolates them from the rest of the world and gives a chance for pause, peacefulness, and reflection. Especially if the weather has the chance of being foul. It also has the chance of being spectacular, and a much greater chance than other days...

Take care,
-Matt-

Thank you for your comments! By the way, that is a bird. not a speck of dust. I thought of cloning it out, but decided against...

Take care,

Yep, it's a bird! I think it's a pretty powerful element in the picture, if you stare at it long enough...
